Have you ever experienced a moment when a certain smell brought back a long-forgotten memory?

For Vincent, the memories of his family are intertwined with the scents he holds dear. His mother carries the fragrance of roses and fresh linen, his father smells like a newly crafted violin, and his brother, Abu, reminds him of riverside trees and soda water glistening in the sun. To capture these cherished memories, Vincent sets off on a journey, accompanied by his little dog, Biscuit, carrying empty bottles to collect the scents of his loved ones.

The text in this picture book uses simple yet poetic language to reveal the personalities of Vincent’s family through the lens of scent.

你有没有过这样的经历？有时闻到某种气味，会想起很久之前的某段记忆。

对于小森来说，记忆里的家人拥有很多让他怀念的味道。妈妈拥有玫瑰和干净亚麻的味道，爸爸就像刚刚制成的小提琴，哥哥阿布的气味，让他想起河边很多的树木和阳光下的苏打水……于是，小森背上许多空瓶子，在小狗“饼干”的陪伴下，踏上了收集气味的旅程。

绘本中的文字，想要用简洁诗意的语言，从气味的角度展现小主人公心目中家人的性格特质。

插画部分则探索了很久，为了讲好这个故事，试验了各种不同的画法：水粉、印刷、拼贴、水彩……在一次次试验中，丙烯明显的笔触，浓郁的色彩，一层层叠加的画法，在我看来与故事的内容和基调最贴切，一层层叠加的色彩，就像在小森生命中那些不断积累的记忆，这样的成品，少了一些精雕细琢，像小小主人公一样执拗又孩子气。

画这本书的期间，真的去了书中男孩走过的那些地方，去到海边、旧书店这些地方，感受各种独特的味道，也丰富自己的记忆。现在闻到相似的味道，还能想起那些回忆。也表明气味和记忆真的紧紧相连吧！
